October 3, 2017, update for Office 2016 (KB4011135)

This article describes update 4011135 for Microsoft Office 2016 that was released on October 3, 2017. This update has a prerequisite.

Be aware that the update in the Microsoft Download Center applies to the Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2016. It doesn't apply to the Office 2016 Click-to-Run editions, such as Microsoft Office 365 Home. (How to determine?)

This update fixes the following issues:

• An issue in the column order in the OLE DB provider when you use a data model connection.
• You see prompts to save each workbook that you have opened when you use PowerPivot in Excel 2016.
• When you undo a measure creation in a PowerPivot table, Excel 2016 may crash.
• When you rename a measure by using the Excel’s measure editing dialog in a PowerPivot table, the measure is broken and Excel 2016 may crash.
• Measure Editor displays redlines (error state) for pasted formula even when formula is correct.

• When you update a Project Online OData dataset, you receive the following error message:

  Object must implement IConvertible.

• You cannot update a model query when the loaded table has a trailing white space in the column name.
• Measure formatting is lost from the Pivot Table view when measures or more fields are added to the Pivot Table.
• After you rename a measure from Pivot field list, you're unable to undo the operation.
• The measure editing dialog that’s opened from Pivot field list doesn’t work correctly during typing.
• After you work with PowerPivot windows for a while, Excel 2016 displays error and Power Pivot windows cannot be opened.
• If you add or update measures from Excel, you will receive an unhandled exception when Power Pivot is in the diagram view.

• When you open a PowerPivot file, you receive the following error message:

  Excel found unreadable content.

  Note To fix these issues, you also have to install this update 4011135 together with October 3, 2017, update for Office 2016 (KB4011139).

To determine whether your Office installation is Click-to-Run or MSI-based, follow these steps:

1. Start an Office 2016 application.
2. On the File menu, select Account.
3. For Office 2016 Click-to-Run installations, an Update Options item is displayed. For MSI-based installations, the Update Options item isn't displayed.

How to uninstall this update

Windows 10

1. Go to Start, enter View Installed Updates in the Search Windows box, and then press Enter.
2. In the list of updates, locate and select KB4011135, and then select Uninstall.

Windows 8 and Windows 8.1

1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then select Search. If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then select Search.
2. Enter windows update, select Windows Update, and then select Installed Updates.
3. In the list of updates, locate and select KB4011135, and then select Uninstall.

Windows 7

1. Go to Start, enter Run, and then select Run.
2. Enter Appwiz.cpl, and then select OK.
3. Select View installed updates.
4. In the list of updates, locate and select KB4011135, and then select Uninstall.
