Service Connection Tool fails to download updates

Symptom

After you install a hotfix rollup on Configuration Manager current branch version 1602 or 1606, the Service Connection Tool that is used to do offline servicing fails to download subsequent updates and returns the following error message:

ERROR:Prerequisites for this tool do not seem to be satisfied.

Cause

This error occurs because the hotfix rollup package replaced the 32-bit baseutil.dll file with the 64-bit version. The Service Connection Tool needs the 32-bit version of baseutil.dll.

Resolution

Replace the 64-bit baseutil.dll in the Service Connection Tool folder (<SMSInstallDir>\cd.latest\SMSSETUP\TOOLS\ServiceConnectionTool) with the 32-bit baseutil.dll file from the Configuration Manager installation folder <SMSInstallDir>\bin\i386\baseutil.dll.
