Symptoms

If you download Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3) message headers by using Send and Receive Settings, and you define only the Item description, you may notice that the headers are marked as Read on the server.

Resolution

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

This problem occurs in Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. However, this hotfix resolves the problem in Exchange 2000 Server only.
