Symptoms

If you change the Commerce Server built-in Name property of Product Property, and then you create a Product Definition that does not have the Name property, you may receive the following error message when you view categories that contain products that have this product definition in a Retail solution site:
SiteName The page cannot be displayed We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again later. If the problem persists, please contact our webmaster. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Error Type: Commerce.CatalogManager (0x80040E14) Source:Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL ServerDescription:Invalid column name 'name'. /retailTest/include/catalog.asp, line 324

Cause

The Retail solution site expects that the product definition has a Name property, and the Category.asp page in the Retail solution site requires the product Name property. If the Name property is not present, the page does not appear correctly.

Resolution

If you are using the Retail solution site to test the product catalog, verify that every product definition that you create has a Name property.
