XADM: Error Message When You Run the Exchange 2000 Server

Symptoms

When you run the setup /forestprep command, you may receive the following error message:
A problem has been encountered while loading setup components. Canceling setup.
The Exchange Server Setup Progress.log file may contain entries that are similar to the following entries:
[date,time] Setup.exe: ***ERRORLOG EVENT*** : LoadSetupObjectGuid(), QI
IID_IDispatch failure: exsetdata.dll
[date,time] Setup.exe: ***ERRORLOG EVENT*** : LoadComponent(),
LoadSetupObjectName failure: exsetdata.dll
[date,time] Setup.exe: ***ERRORLOG EVENT*** : LoadComponent failed in
ISetupManager::LoadComponentsFromDBObject(): exsetdata.dll
[date,time] Setup.exe: IsRunningUnattended
[date,time] Setup.exe: UnloadSuiteComponents()

Cause

This issue may occur if the Everyone user group has been removed from the root folder of drive C or the drive on which you are installing Exchange 2000 Server.

Resolution

To resolve this issue:
1.Start Windows Explorer, right-click drive C or the drive on which you are installing Exchange 2000 Server, and then click Properties.
2.Click the Security tab, and then view the list of user groups. If the Everyone group is not listed, click Add, click Everyone, click Add, and then click OK. Make sure that the Everyone group is not denied any permissions.
3.Click OK to close the Drive Properties dialog box.
