Symptoms

When you try to create a system attendant resource on a clustered Exchange 2000 server, you may receive the following error message:
An error occurred attempting to add pages from the '{30C5DA98-BA0C-11D2-BC65-00C04FA32177}' extension DLL:
The network path was not found.
Error ID: 53 (00000035).
If you click OK, only the system attendant resource is created in cluster administrator. None of the dependent resources are created. Therefore, the Exchange virtual server is incomplete and does not work.

Cause

This problem may occur if the domain controller that holds the schema master Flexible Single Master Operation (FSMO) role is not accessible during the creation of the system attendant resource.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, make sure that the schema master is online and is accessible to the Exchange cluster nodes. Remove the system attendant resource that was created incorrectly, and then add it again. Then all dependant resources are created correctly.
