When you open a file attachment that contains script and that was sent from Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.5 for Macintosh, the script that is contained in the text file runs without any prompts. Additionally, the data in the text file is corrupted.

This behavior only occurs when you open the text file by using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and Microsoft Outlook Web Access. When you open the attachment with versions of Internet Explorer that are later than Internet Explorer 5 the data is still corrupted, but the script does not run.

To work around this problem, use Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 for Macintosh (or later) when you send files that contain embedded scripts.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

Internet Explorer 4.5 for Macintosh sets the content type of the attachment to application/x-machinery. When the attachment is uploaded to the server, the data is corrupted.
