You may receive a blue screen error, DRIVER_UNLOADED_WITHOUT_CANCELLING_PENDING_OPERATIONS, when inserting a Secure Digital (SD) card

Symptoms

Considering the following scenario:

  • You have installed Windows 10 on a device containing an Intel processor from the series formerly known as the "Apollo Lake" series of processors. (To view a list of specific processor models, please visit http://ark.intel.com/products/codename/80644/Apollo-Lake#%40All.)
  • You insert an Secure Digital (SD) card, but the SD card is not identified.
Under these conditions, when re-inserting the SD card, you may receive a blue screen error message, DRIVER_UNLOADED_WITHOUT_CANCELLING_PENDING_OPERATIONS. This error has a bugcheck value of 0x000000CE.
