BUG: "Invalid Procedure Call or Argument" Error Message When You Load Japanese Business Desk on English-based Client Computer

Symptoms

When you try to install the Japanese version of the Business Desk application on an English-based client computer, you receive the following error message in the browser:
Invalid Procedure Call or Argument
Additionally, the three dialog boxes are not localized. Instead of displaying Japanese characters, the dialog boxes display question marks (?).

Workaround

To work around this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Install the English version of the Business Desk application before you try to install the Japanese version of the application to make sure that the English HTML application host file is loaded on the computer.
  2. Open the Japanese Business Desk site.
  3. Select a path to load the Japanese Business Desk application.
  4. Click No two times when you are prompted to install the Business Desk HTML application and icon.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Download the Japanese solution site, and then add a Japanese BizDesk application to the Commerce Server site.
  2. To remove all of the .cab and the download files from the English-based Microsoft Internet Explorer client computer, follow these steps:
    1. On the English-based client computer, start Internet Explorer.
    2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
    3. Under Temporary Internet Files, click Settings.
    4. Click View Objects, and then remove all of the entries.
  3. Connect your English-based Internet Explorer client computer to a Japanese Commerce Server 2002 Business Desk site.
  4. Select a location to install the Business Desk application.
  5. Click Yes two times when you are prompted to install the Business Desk HTML application and icon. Notice that you receive the "Invalid Procedure Call or Argument" error message in the browser.
