Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server and Microsoft Proxy Server technologies provide a Winsock Proxy client that permits read and write access through a proxy server.

To Use an FTP Gateway
An FTP Gateway permits read and write access by acting as a translator for FTP requests. (To see if your network has an FTP gateway installed, please ask your network administrator.)
To configure your
Internet Options to use an FTP Gateway, follow the appropriate steps for your version of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
If You Have Internet Explorer 5.x or 6.x Installed
- Open Control Panel.
- Double-click Internet Options.
- Click the Connections tab.
- Click LAN Settings.
- Click Advanced.
- Click to clear the Use the same proxy server for all protocols check box.
- In the FTP and Port boxes, specify the protocol, the FTP server location, and the port number, for example:
ftp://server location:21
- Click OK three times.
If You Have Internet Explorer 4.x Installed
- Open Control Panel.
- Double-click Internet Options.
- Click the Connection tab.
- Click Advanced.
- Click to clear the Use the same proxy server for all protocols check box.
- In the FTP and Port boxes, specify the protocol, the FTP server location, and the port number, for example:
ftp://server location:21
- Click OK two times.
