Outlook 2013 add-in crashes trying to create new email

Symptoms

If you had Outlook 2016 installed, and then:
  • Removed it with the Uninstall Easy Fix
  • Installed Outlook 2013
  • Installed an add-in
  • Tried to create an email through the add-in
Outlook 2013 may stop working.

Cause

The Uninstall Easy Fix doesn't change the typelib registry information, which causes a problem with the add-in.

Resolution

  1. From Start, search for regedit. Choose regedit from the search results.
  2. Use the arrows next to the folders on the left to navigate to this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib\{00062FFF-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\9.6
  3. Right-click that key, and select Delete.
  4. Perform an Online Repair.
