Upgrade to Windows 10 Version 1607 freezes on Compact OS-enabled devices

Symptoms

When you upgrade a system from Windows 10 version 1506 or 1511 to Windows 10 Version 1607, the upgrade process freezes before it is completed on some devices that have Compact OS enabled.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

  1. Restart the system to let Windows 10 roll back to the previously installed version.
  2. Try to upgrade the system again.
