XL2000: "Error -2147417848" Occurs When Data Fields Are Added to a PivotTable from VBA

Symptoms

A Microsoft Excel spreadsheet contains Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) script to create and format a series of PivotTables.

While the VBA script tries to add data fields to a PivotTable, the following error is received:
Run-time error '-2147417848 (80010108)': Method "Orientation' of object "PivotField" failed

Resolution

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
