Updated wifi driver for Surface Pro 3 and Surface 3 without Windows 10 Anniversary Update

Symptoms

Your Surface Pro 3 or Surface 3 running Windows 10 1507 or 1511 is using an older Marvell wireless driver than the same device running Windows 10 1607.

Cause

Windows 10 1607 includes a new Surface Marvell driver 15.68.9040.67, and that driver is installed automatically when Windows 10 1607 is installed on Surface Pro 3 or Surface 3.

Resolution

To resolve this issue when using Windows 10 1507 or 1511, install Surface Marvell driver version 15.68.9040.67 by downloading the updated driver from this article. 

To do this, follow these steps:

1. Download the hotfix (KB3177078) from this article. 
2. Run the hotfix, and choose a folder where you want to unzip the files. 
3. In the folder that you saved the files to, run the file SurfaceMarvellDriverInstall_160100_2.msi
4. Restart Windows when prompted
