Functionality Added By the Update

Visual Interdev Creates New Web Sites in Low Security Context

On a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based computer, if you create a subweb by using Microsoft Visual InterDev 6.0, it is automatically created as an application. The default setting is to run that application in-process. After you install the update, the new default setting for the FrontPage Server Extensions update is to run the application out-of-process. This improves security.

Important Information

If you install the update on a Web server, you must restart the server. To avoid the server restart, follow these steps:
  1. On the Windows Start menu, click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type CMD and then click OK.
  3. At the command prompt, perform the following steps:
    1. Type iisreset /stop and press ENTER.
    2. Type net stop sptimer and press ENTER.
  4. Install the update.
  5. At the command prompt, perform the following steps:
    1. Type iisreset /start and press ENTER.
    2. Type net start sptimer and press ENTER.
    3. Type Exit to return to Windows.
