Introduction

This article describes an issue that blocks the detection of the NK.bin file by the boot loader in Windows Embedded Compact 2013. An update is available to fix this issue. Before you install this update, all previously issued updates for this product must be installed.

Symptoms

When you use a Windows Embedded Compact 2013 device, the current FAT32 implementation ignores the higher bits of a file cluster. This prevents the NK.bin file from being detected by the boot loader if the file is stored in the boot media that's already filled with more than 256 megabytes (MB) of data.

This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you apply this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To do this, use one of the following methods:
  • On the Build menu, click Clean Solution, and then click Build Solution.
  • On the Build menu, click Rebuild Solution.
You don't have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.
