Symptoms

On a Microsoft Windows 10 Internet of Things (IoT) device, when you use the Console.WriteLine method in a console application, you may receive the following error message:

System.IO.__Error.WinIOError

Cause

This problem occurs when the conhost.exe virus removal solution is installed on the device.

Resolution

To fix this problem, upgrade to Windows 10 version 1511.

If you're running Windows 10 LTSB (Long Term Servicing Branch), the problem is fixed in an upcoming release of Windows 10.
