Symptoms

In an Exchange Server 2016 environment, the Distributed File System (DFS) health set is listed as Unhealthy, even when the DFS service is not using the server.

For example, the health set may be listed as follows.

Cause

This issue occurs because the DFS probe is enabled if the server is a Domain Controller or the server name begins with "DC" characters.

Cumulative update information

For Exchange Server 2016

To resolve this issue, install Cumulative Update 3 for Exchange Server 2016 or a later cumulative update for Exchange Server 2016.
