Replicated files are deleted on all the other DFSR nodes in Windows Server 2012 R2

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Assume that you use the Distributed File System Replication (DFSR) service to replicate Microsoft Office files hosted on a Windows Server 2012 R2 file server. When you edit and periodically save a file, such as a .docx file, the replicated copies of the file on the other file servers are deleted. After you close the file, it begins to replicate to the other servers as usual.

Note Deleted copies of the file on DFSR servers are moved to the ConflictAndDeleted folder under the replicated folder. You can use the Restore-DfsrPreservedFiles cmdlet to recover them as long as they aren't removed by quota.
