Summary

The MSN Messenger/Exchange Instant Messaging client password is limited to a maximum of 16 characters. Any attempt to type additional characters in the Password dialog box will be blocked.

Because of this client setting, users with domain passwords that exceed this 16-character limit cannot log on to their Instant Messaging home server successfully. Therefore, Exchange 2000 administrators are strongly recommended to review their domain password policies with regards to this client setting.
