Update to Session Integrator adds flexibility in locating resources

View products that this article applies to.

Summary

This update adds flexibility to how Session Integrator locates resources. This functionality is implemented by using the following registry subkey:

Registry location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\siserver\Parameters\ResLocFlags
Key type: DWORD
Value name: DMODReslocate
Value data: N

If the Value data field is set to 1 = RLOC_RANDOM_ORDER.
If the value is not set, a default value of 4 = RLOC_LOCAL_SERVICE is used.

Important The registry is read one time when the SI Server (siserver.exe) is started.

More information

This update is included in the following cumulative updates for Host Integration Server:

Cumulative Update 2 for Host Integration Server 2016

Cumulative Update 4 for Host Integration Server 2013

SI Server is hard-coded to use RLOC_LOCAL_SERVICE for the ResLocFlags.

If the service uses RLOC_RANDOM_ORDER, it will then check the ST for each new connection.

SI Server is updated to enable configuration of ResLocFlags through a registry subkey.

With the default setting DMODReslocate=4, the behavior is as follows:

  • Normal operation: SI application uses local SI Server and Node.

  • Local Node Paused: SI application uses Local SI Server and Local Node.

  • Local Node Inactive: SI application uses Remote SI Server and Remote Node.

  • Local SI Server Disabled: SI application uses Remote SI Server and Remote Node.

With DMODReslocate=1, the behavior is as follows:

  • Normal operation: SI application uses local SI Server and Node.

  • Local Node Paused: SI application uses Local SI Server and Remote Node.

  • Local Node Inactive: SI application uses Local SI Server and Remote Node.

  • Local SI Server Disabled: SI application uses Remote SI Server and Remote Node.
