Summary

This step-by-step article describes how to dismount a data store (make the data store temporarily inaccessible to users) so that you can perform maintenance or recovery procedures.

Dismount Data Stores

1.Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
2.Expand Servers, and then expand the server that you want to work with.
3.Expand the storage group that you want to work with.
4.In the Details pane, in the list of available data stores, the icon in front of the data store name indicates the status of the data. If the icon shows a red down-arrow, the store is already dismounted.
5.Right-click the store that you want to dismount, click Dismount Store, and then click Yes.
