This article describes an issue in which the tracert command doesn't receive responses when you trace resources on Internet through Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V Network Virtualization Gateway (HNV GW). Before you install this update, see the Prerequisites section.

Symptoms

When this issue occurs, you can't monitor IP routes by using the tracert command on a virtual machine (VM) behind a Windows Server 2012 R2 HNV GW with network address translation (NAT).

This issue occurs because Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) packets are dropped.
