Introduction

This article describes an issue that triggers an access exception error when the IDirectDrawSurface::Lock() method is used in Windows Embedded Compact 2013. An update is available to resolve this issue. Before you install this update, all previously issued updates for this product must be installed.

Symptoms

You use a surface memory pointer to access the surface memory after the IDirectDrawSurface::Unlock method is called on a device that's running Windows Embedded Compact 2013. When the available virtual memory is insufficient, the IDirectDrawSurface::Lock() method returns an access exception error. Additionally, if there's insufficient virtual memory for the user mode application, an expected error code such as (DDERR_OUTOFVIDEOMEMORY) is not returned to the application.

  • On the Build menu, click Rebuild Solution.
You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.
