ISA Microsoft Management Console Is Slow to Open

The ISA Microsoft Management Console (MMC) may take a long time to open in both Taskpad and Advanced views.

When site and content rules and protocol rules are applied to users and groups from remote domains, the ISA MMC verifies the trusted accounts before it displays the list. If these trusts are across slow network connections or the trusts cannot be verified, opening the ISA MMC can take several minutes.

The "Applies to" column shows the users and groups to which the rule applies. To work around this problem, remove the "Applies to" column from the Site and Content Rules folder and the Protocol Rules folder. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Open the ISA MMC.
2. Expand Servers and Arrays.
3. Expand the array.
4. Expand the Access Policy.
5. Select the Site and Content Rules folder.
6. Right-click the folder, select View, and then click Choose Columns.
7. Remove the Applies to column and click OK.
8. Repeat these steps for the Protocol Rules folder.

This behavior is by design.
