Office 2013 applications may hang or crash after installing updates

Symptoms

After installing the November 10, 2015 update for Office 2013 (KB3101360) or the December 8, 2015 update for Office 2013 (KB3114333), Office applications may hang or crash. This can affect one or more Office applications, such as Outlook 2013, Word 2013, Excel 2013, OneNote 2013, PowerPoint 2013, and others.

Resolution

Workaround

If you can't install the update that's mentioned in the "Resolution" section to fix this issue, you can work around the issue by disabling the Microsoft Internet Explorer Automatically detect settings or Use automatic configuration script options and instead configure static Proxy server Address and Port.
