Coded UI Extensibility compact issues with earlier Visual Studio 2013 versions and Windows 10 playback issues

Symptoms

When you run Coded UI tests in Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 or Test Controller and Test Agent 2013, you may experience the following issues:
  • Issue 1:

    When you run Coded UI tests on Windows 10, the controls may not be identified.
  • Issue 2:

    Coded UI Extensions may not work after you upgrade to Visual Studio 2013 Update 2 from a previous version of Visual Studio 2013.

Cause

Issue 1 occurs because Windows 10 causes a break in an API that Coded UI is consuming.

Issue 2 occurs because Coded UI Extensibility is re-designed in the Visual Studio 2013 Update 2. The UIAComWrapper implementation has gaps compared to Interop.UIAutomationClient that is used earlier with respect to Client Side Provider Registration.
