Introduction

This article describes an issue in which text in a Command Prompt window is barely readable after the October 2015 update is installed on Windows Embedded Compact 2013. An update is available to resolve this issue. Before you install this update, all previously issued updates for this product must be installed.

Symptoms

You have a device that has the October 2015 update installed in Windows Embedded Compact 2013. You create a retail image that includes the Command Prompt console window (SYSGEN_CONSOLE). When you start the image and then open Cmd.exe, text in the console is barely readable. This is especially true for the "t" character.

Prerequisites

This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you apply this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To do this, use one of the following methods:
  • On the Build menu, click Clean Solution, and then click Build Solution.
  • On the Build menu, click Rebuild Solution.
You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.
