This article describes update KB3118323 for Microsoft Visio 2016, which was released on October 4, 2016. This update has a prerequisite.

Be aware that the update on the Microsoft Download Center applies to the Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2016. It doesn't apply to the Office 2016 Click-to-Run editions, such as Microsoft Office 365 Home. (How to determine?)

Improvements and fixes

This update provides the latest version of OneDrive for Business for Office collaboration synchronization integration. It also enables coauthoring of Office documents that are synchronized by OneDrive in a reliable and high-performance manner. This update lets you use Office together with the latest version of OneDrive for Business for improved online and offline user experiences for all files that are synchronized.

Significant changes to the user experience include the following improvements:
  • The ability to quickly open OneDrive synchronized files from anywhere (File Explorer, Most Recently Used list, or websites). This enables Office applications to open the correct file and keeping all changes in synchronization.
  • Rich collaboration and sharing experiences.
  • Offline edits of synchronized files.
  • Auto synchronization of the changes to the cloud and as soon as you are online.
To be able to take advantage of Office collaboration synchronization integration, you must also have the following updates installed:
This update also fixes the following issues:
  • When you open a drawing in Visio 2016, shapes are misplaced. This update disables the recalculation for the geometry section during file load to make sure that only saved values are loaded.
  • Visio 2016 has a 256 characters limitation for URLs. This update increases the limitation to 2,083 characters.

To determine whether your Office installation is Click-to-Run or MSI-based, follow these steps:
  1. Start an Office 2016 application.
  2. On the File menu, select Account.
  3. For Office 2016 Click-to-Run installations, an Update Options item is displayed. For MSI-based installations, the Update Options item isn't displayed.

How to uninstall this update
Windows 10
  1. Go to Start, enter View Installed Updates in the Search Windows box, and then press Enter.
  2. In the list of updates, locate and select KB3118323, and then select Uninstall.
Windows 8 and Windows 8.1
  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then select Search. If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then select Search.
  2. Enter windows update, select Windows Update, and then select Installed Updates.
  3. In the list of updates, locate and select KB3118323, and then select Uninstall.
Windows 7
  1. Go to Start, enter Run, and then select Run.
  2. Enter Appwiz.cpl, and then select OK.
  3. Select View installed updates.
  4. In the list of updates, locate and select KB3118323, and then select Uninstall.
