Delay of more than 30 seconds when you send or receive an IM in Lync 2013 (Skype for Business)

Symptoms

This issue occurs when you send or receive the first instant message (IM) in Microsoft Lync 2013 (Microsoft Skype for Business). You don't experience any delays when you send or receive subsequent IMs.

When this issue occurs, the IM may be not sent out or displayed in real-time. The period of the delay is generally 30-60 seconds.

Resolution

To fix this issue, install the March 8, 2016 update (KB3114831) for Lync 2013 (Skype for Business).

Note Lync 2013 was upgraded to Skype for Business in April 2015.
