Windows Explorer opens parent directory when you click a child directory link in Lync 2013 (Skype for Business)

Symptoms

This issue occurs when you click a link that's a directory path (such as \\server\share\dir1\dir2\parent_directory\child_directory) in an instant message (IM) in Microsoft Lync 2013 (Skype for Business).

When this issue occurs, you are taken to the parent directory instead of to the directory whose link you actually clicked (such as \\server\sharedir1\dir2\\parent_directory) in Windows Explorer.

Resolution

To fix this issue, install the March 8, 2016, update (KB3114831) for Lync 2013 (Skype for Business).

Note Lync 2013 was upgraded to Skype for Business in April 2015.
