You may receive an error when running Office 2013 in Windows 10: "We're sorry, but Word has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly."

Symptoms

When launching Office 2013 apps after upgrading to Windows 10, you receive an error resembling the following for Word 2013:

"We're sorry, but Word has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. Word will need to be closed as a results.
Would you like us to repair now?"

When you launch other Office 2013 apps, you receive a similar error that includes the appropriate Office 2013 app name.

Resolution

This issue has been fixed with the October product update (15.0.4763). You can get the latest update now by following these steps:
  1. Open any Office application, such as Word.
  2. Choose File > Account. (If you opened Outlook, choose File > Office Account.)
  3. Under Product Information, choose Update Options > Update Now.
Can't find Update Now?
Choose Update Options > Enable Updates to turn on automatic updates. Now choose Update Options > Update Now.
