This article explains how to customize the Microsoft FrontPage navigation bar.
Customize the Navigation Bar
To customize the FrontPage navigation bar, follow these steps:
- Start FrontPage.
- On the File menu, point to New, and then click Web.
- In the New dialog box, double-click One Page
Web.
- On the Format menu, click Theme.
- In the Themes dialog box, click All Pages under Apply Theme to.
- Select the theme that you want to use, and then click to select the following check boxes:
- Vivid Colors
- Background Picture
- Click OK.
When the confirmation message appears, click Yes. - On the Tools menu, click Web Settings, and then click the Advanced Tab.
- Click to select the Show documents in hidden directories check box, and then click OK.
When the confirmation message appears, click Yes. - On the File menu, click Open.
- In the Open File dialog box, select any .htm file, and then click Open.
- On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From File.
- In the Picture dialog box, click _themes, select any picture file, and then click OK.
The image that you selected to insert appears on the page. - Click the image.
The Picture toolbar appears. - On the Picture toolbar, click the text symbol (an uppercase A).
A text box appears over the image. - In the text box, type Home.
- Right-click the image outside of the text box, and then click Hyperlink on the shortcut menu.
- In the Create Hyperlink dialog box, click Default.htm or Index.htm, and then click OK.
- Save your changes.
- On the File menu, click Preview in Browser, and then double-click the browser that you want to use. The inserted image, the accompanying text, and the hyperlink, now exhibit the same functionality as the FrontPage navigation bar.
