This article describes a memory leak issue that occurs when one or more file system minifilter drivers are installed in Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012. A hotfix is available to fix this issue. Before you apply this hotfix, note that this hotfix has a known issue.

Issue

If you install hotfix KB2979933 in Windows Server 2012, and then install this hotfix (KB3084426), the fix for hotfix KB2979933 is lost.

Solution

To fix this issue, install October 2016 update rollup for Windows Server 2012.

Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 file information and notes
