Hot swapping disks will not always be reflected in the Device Manager friendly name

Summary

When a non-USB disk device is connected, the Plug and Play (PnP) process will discover the Device ID and Device Description and save this to the registry, and the description is then used as the friendly name in Device Manager.

If a device is hot-swapped and shares the same Device ID as the one previously inserted, then the registry key is not updated with the new description and so the description for the previous device is displayed in Device Manager.
