Symptoms

When you replicate an Exchange 2000 Server sample gateway to a Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 computer by using the Active Directory Connector (ADC) configuration connector, the admindisplayname attribute is reset to the gateway's common name (cn).

Cause

This behavior occurs because the ADC configuration connector replicates only those gateway objects that are of the mailGateway class.

More information

Steps to Reproduce the Problem

1.Install Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 4 (SP4) on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based member server (server A) of a Windows 2000 domain.
2.Install an Exchange Server ADC on a domain controller (server B) in the same domain.
3.Install Exchange 2000 Server SP2 on server B, joining it to the Exchange Server 5.5 site.
4.Install the Exchange 2000 Server sample gateway on server B by using registry support. Select the default display name of Exchange 2000 sample gateway.
5.Open the Exchange System Manager for Exchange 2000 Server.

Note that the sample gateway's display name is set to Exchange 2000 sample gateway.
6.Allow replication to occur through the configuration ADC.

In the Exchange 5.5 Admin program, the connector is displayed, with the display name set to the gateway's cn, MSExchangeSGW. Note that in the Exchange System Manager for Exchange 2000, the display name is now set to the gateway's cn, MSExchangeSGW.
