Server Manager does not find connected storage paths in Windows Server 2012 R2

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a server that is running Windows Server 2012 R2.
  • This server is connected to a storage device via a FibreChannel storage area network (SAN).
  • You try to manage the storage by using Server Manager (click File and Storage Services, and then click Storage Pools).

In this scenario, Server Manager does not correctly discover the connected paths between the server(s) and the storage device.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft Support. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
