Unable to view folders containing greater than 37,435 files on a Media Trasfer Protocol device

Symptoms

If you have a Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) device attached to a Windows 8.1 computer, and that MTP device has more than 37,435 files on it, the contents of the device are not displayed when you attempt to browse them on the Windows 8.1 computer.

Cause

This problem occurs because the Portable Device Results Buffer is full.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, reduce the number of files in the folder to less than 37,435 files.
