Significant delays occur when obtaining data from Active Directory in Excel 2013 on a computer that is running Windows 7

Symptoms

On a computer that is running Windows 7, you run a macro in Microsoft Excel 2013 to use the Active Directory provider to retrieve data from an Active Directory database. In this situation, significant delays occur when you obtain the data.

Cause

This problem occurs because of a because of a performance issue in the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) Schema Parser.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft Support. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
