Symptoms

When you call the OLEDBSimpleProviderListener::aboutToChangeCell or OLEDBSimpleProviderListener::cellChanged method, Microsoft OLE DB Simple Provider (OSP or MSDAOSP.dll) does not issue notifications.

Cause

This problem occurs because the aboutToChangeCell and cellChanged functions incorrectly return S_OK without issuing the notifications.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Data Access Components 2.6. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
300635 INFO: How to Obtain the Latest MDAC 2.6 Service Pack
The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:
Date Version Size File name Platform
      -------------------------------------------------------
   07-Aug-2001 2.61.7807.0 82,192 MSDAOSP.dll x86

To install this hotfix in the Microsoft Windows 2000 environment, run the hotfix installer package (Q305983_W2K_SP2_x86_en.exe). Although the hotfix is not platform-dependent, the hotfix installer package is designed to run only on Windows 2000 and will not run on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98, or Windows 95. Because MDAC contains system files that are protected, you can only use a digitally signed hotfix installer on Windows 2000 to replace those files. The stand-alone hotfix file is also provided so that you can copy that file directly to Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98, or Windows 95.
