Presence status of a contact isn't updated in your Skype for Business after the contact disconnects from network

Symptoms

Assume that you create an instant message conversation with a Microsoft Skype for Business contact, and then the contact is disconnected from the network. In this situation, if you send an instant message to the contact, you see a spinning circle near the message. Approximately 90 seconds later, the following message notification displays in the right-corner of the conversation window in your Skype for Business client:
Lync and Exchange aren’t making a connection right now

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the May 12, 2015, security update for Skype for Business.

Note Microsoft Lync 2013 was upgraded to Skype for Business in April 2015.
