Symptoms

Although you can install the Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server Firewall Client on any of the following platforms
  • Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me)
  • Microsoft Windows 95
  • Microsoft Windows 98
  • Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition (SE)
  • Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
  • Microsoft Windows 2000
16-bit Winsock applications are only supported on Windows 2000 and Windows NT 4.0.

Workaround

To work around this behavior, install the Microsoft Proxy 2.0 Winsock proxy client, and then set the computer to the same ISA server. By doing this, the clients that are running the 16 bit Winsock applications can go through the ISA server to access the Internet.
