A thread handle leak occurs in an Internet Explorer 11 or Internet Explorer 10 WebBrowser control host application

Symptoms

When you use the application to go to a webpage that has JavaScript content, this issue occurs. Additionally, you can see the thread handle leak in Performance Monitor or Task Manager for the application.

Cause

This issue occurs because of a code error in the thread detach code path.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the most recent cumulative security update for Internet Explorer. To do this, go to Microsoft Update. Additionally, see the technical information about the most recent cumulative security update for Internet Explorer.

This update was first included in the April 2015 cumulative security update for Internet Explorer (MS15-032).
