Symptoms

When Analysis Services 2000 is installed on a system that has Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Beta 2 installed, the following error may be seen when attempting to drill down on a member in the cube browser:
(Unable to retrieve children: Member with the UniqueName[Time].[All Time] not found.)
where [Time].[All Time] is the dimension member upon which the drill down was attempted.

Cause

This is a problem in the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.7 Beta version that ships with Visual Studio .NET Beta 2 and Microsoft Windows XP RC1.

Resolution

An updated version of the MDAC 2.7 Beta corrects this problem and can be downloaded by FTP from the following Microsoft site: IMPORTANT: This version is intended only to correct the problem stated above and should not be installed on a system unless specifically encountering this problem.

This updated version of MDAC will not install on a system running Windows XP RC1; this problem will be fixed for Windows XP in RC2.

Although Analysis Services will run on Windows XP RC2, Visual Studio .NET Beta versions will not. Visual Studio .NET RC0 or later is required for installation on any Windows XP version later than RC1.
