An IP Address Management error occurs in Windows Server 2012 R2 when a DNS record is deleted

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

You set up IP Address Management (IPAM) on a server that is running Windows Server 2012 R2.
You install a Windows Server 2008 R2-based DNS server.
You create forward and reverse lookup zones on the DNS server.
Through IPAM, you try to delete a DNS record that is hosted on the DNS server.

In this scenario, you receive an error message that resembles the following from the IPAM:

Reverse Lookup Record Deletion for the IP Address ip_address failed.

Note You receive this error message even if the DNS record is successfully deleted.
