Update 3033889 causes Windows Explorer to stop responding on systems that use the Japanese, Korean, or Chinese IME

Symptoms

This article describes an update that resolves a post-release problem that is caused by update 3033889. After you install update 3033889 on systems that use the Japanese, Korean, or Chinese input method editor (IME), Windows Explorer stops responding, or "hangs," and may crash. This problem occurs only on computers that are running Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, or Windows 8.

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.

Method 3: Hotfix information

To apply this update or hotfix, install April 2014, update rollup for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 (2919355) in Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2.
