Console crashes when running an inquiry after installing Update Rollup 5 or later for Data Protection Manager 2012 R2

Symptoms

After installing Update Rollup 5  (or a later update rollup) for Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager (DPM 2012R2), if you are already protecting system state or bare metal recovery (BMR), when an inquiry is run on the local DPM server or on another attached DPM server for secondary protection, the console may crash. After restarting the server, the DPM UI will freeze at one of the following windows and you also notice that cmdlets are unresponsive.

Installation instructions

To install this hotfix, follow these steps:
  1. Download this hotfix to a target folder on your computer.
  2. Open the target folder, and then right-click DataProtectionManager2012R2-KB3040326.exe.
  3. Click Run as administrator.
  4. Accept the Microsoft Software License Terms, and then follow the steps in the installation wizard.

Prerequisites

To apply this hotfix, you must have Update Rollup 5 for System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager installed.

Restart information

You must restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

Replacement information

This hotfix does not replace any previously released hotfix.
