Logon message does not display in full on a Remote Desktop Gateway server in Windows Server 2012 R2

Symptoms

This issue occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • You configure a logon message on a Remote Desktop Gateway (RD Gateway) server in Windows Server 2012 R2.
  • The logon message is long.
  • You use Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) 8.0 or a later version to connect to the RD Gateway server.
Under these conditions, the logon message only displays text about 21,500 bytes.

Cause

This issue occurs because the logon message that displays is limited to about 21,500 bytes.

Workaround

To work around this issue, limit the logon message to about 21,500 bytes, and add a link within the logon message to display the complete message on another page (such as a company website).

Note We recommend that you test the logon message to make sure it is displayed as expected.
