XFOR: Exchange 2000 Server SP2 Migration Wizard Generates Ambiguous Error Message

With the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 2 (SP2) Migration Wizard, you have the option to not migrate e-mail messages with specific words in the subject line. A Subject File List is referenced in order to enforce these keywords. If the text file that contains the list is not saved as a Unicode text file, you receive the following error message:
This error message does not point to the specific problem. The problem is that the text file that contains the list was not saved as a Unicode text file.

To resolve this issue, save the subject file list as a Unicode file. If you are using Notepad, follow these steps:

�	With the file open, click Save As on the File menu.
�	In the Encoding list at the bottom of the Save As dialog box, click Unicode.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
