Sharepoint Team Services Does Not Work After Computer Name Change

Symptoms

When you restart your computer after you use the Configure Your Server Wizard to configure your computer as a server running SharePoint Team Services from Microsoft and then rename your computer, you may receive the following error messages:
SQL Server
Your SQL Server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with (unknown package id). Please rerun setup.
Service Control Manager
At least one service or driver failed during startup. Use Event Viewer to examine the Event Log for details.

Resolution

To resolve this issue:
  1. Rename the computer back to the previous name.
  2. Use the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel to uninstall SharePoint Team Services.
  3. Rename the computer back to the new name.
  4. Restart the computer, and then use the Configure Your Server Wizard to reinstall SharePoint Team Services.
